Greetings!!
My name Genise Thorsen, and I teach World Literature, American Literature, and Gods and Goddesses/Knights and Castles here at Enloe. I grew up here in Raleigh, and graduated from Southeast Raleigh High School (many moons ago). I received my bachelors degree in Communications and have a Masters degree in Education from NC State.
I have been teaching at Enloe for 8 years. I have taught sophomores all 8 of those years (along with a few other courses as well). I have taught mostly World Literature, but have also taught senior English, Speech and Debate, Gods and Goddesses, and Knights and Castles. My philosophy is that if you work hard you will be rewarded. I am here to help and encourage you to work hard and be successful. I love teaching, and I love interacting with and learning from my students. I hope to share my passion for literature with any student who walks into my room. The idea of escaping reality for a few brief moments through the world of literature is something everyone should be able to do.
Here are a few things about me that you will eventually find out. I have the most beautiful niece! You will hear way to much about her. I have a cat and you will hear about her often as well! One of my favorite stories is Peter Pan. Along those same lines, my favorite movie is Hook. I am an avid watcher of The Walking Dead. Lemon desserts are my favorite. I am a HUGE hockey fan (Go Canes!!!). Also, I do not drink coffee (weird, I know), but I drink hot tea (preferably chai).
I get questions about things that can be donated to the room. Below is a link to my amazon wish list. Some of the things are things I need, and some are just wants. If you feel the desire to donate something, you can send it to the school address with my name on it and I will get it.
I look forward to having you in class this year.
Ms. Thorsen
